Overview
Voting Plan is a website operated by Robert B. Earl Jr., a sole proprietor (“we,” “us”). We help American voters understand how to vote in their state. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
We collect the minimum information needed to provide the site. We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with advertisers, political organizations, or data brokers. We do not run ads.
Information we collect
When you use Voting Plan we may collect the address you voluntarily enter on the home page (street, city, state, and ZIP code), used to personalize your voting plan and route you to the right state page. When you submit your address, we use a secure functional cookie in your browser to remember it for this visit. We don't store it on our servers, send it to third parties, or use it for tracking. You can clear it anytime by closing the tab, clearing your browser cookies, or using the “Forget my address” button on your state page.
We collect anonymized usage data through privacy-respecting analytics like Vercel Analytics or Plausible Analytics, which do not use cookies and do not build advertising profiles. If you contact us through the email link on the site, we keep your email address only to respond to you. If you make a voluntary contribution through our Support page, payment is processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your credit card information, and Stripe's privacy policy applies to that transaction.
We do not collect Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, voter registration data, any government-issued identification number, or cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
How we use your information
We use what you give us only to show you accurate voting information for your state, to respond to your questions if you email us, to process your voluntary contribution if you choose to make one, and to improve the site through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics.
We do not build a marketing profile about you, sell or rent your contact information, send you political fundraising appeals, target you with advertising, or use your data to endorse or oppose any candidate, party, or ballot measure.
Information sharing
We share information only in two specific cases. First, with service providers: Stripe for payment processing and Vercel for hosting, who handle data only as needed to provide their service to us. Second, when required by valid legal process, we may disclose information to law enforcement, and we will notify you if legally permitted to do so.
We never share your information with political campaigns, advocacy groups, advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
Cookies
Voting Plan does not set tracking cookies. When you submit your address on the home page, we set a single functional cookie that holds the address you entered. The cookie is HTTP-only, restricted to votingplan.com, and used only to render your personalized state page during your visit. It is never sent to third parties and never used for advertising or tracking across other websites.
You can clear the cookie by closing the tab, clearing your browser cookies, or clicking “Forget my address” on your state page.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you have the right to see what information we have about you, correct inaccurate information, delete your information, and ask questions about this policy. Email hello@votingplan.com for any of these.
If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Utah, you have additional rights under your state's privacy law. We honor all of them. Contact us through the email above to exercise them.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your information.
Children
Voting Plan is intended for adults of voting age. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here and note the new effective date.
